Pensateci. È facilissimo. Immaginate una massa di schiavi. Potrebbe venire loro in  mente che, oltre alla loro individualità, hanno qualcosa in comune: ad esempio, l’interesse a liberarsi e a spezzare le catene. Immaginate ora i padroni. Tutto l’interesse avranno a fare sì che i loro schiavi non scoprano di avere interessi in comune, di essere insieme un gruppo il cui obiettivo primario dovrebbe essere la comune salvezza. Ecco allora che i padroni fanno di tutto per dividere gli schiavi. Li contrappongono tra bianchi e neri, ad esempio. E si appoggiano ai loro fedeli servitori, i padroni del discorso, per enfatizzare oltre misura tale divisione. Si inventano, ad esempio, una inesistente emergenza razzismo, creando ad arte ciò che non c’è se non come sporadico caso di imbecilli (che sempre vi sono e sempre vi saranno, alla stregua dei ladri). In tal modo la liberazione comune è oscurata. E prevalgono la distrazione e la divisione di massa.
